Run the salon, not the spreadsheet.

For owners of hair, nail and lash salons, barbershops, med spas, tattoo and piercing studios, and Pilates, yoga and barre studios. You book on Vagaro, Fresha, Mindbody, Square or Booksy. The admin around it is what Sanoma takes.

What you do by hand today

  1. Pay day comes out of a report

Commission, booth rent, tips and pay per class are pulled from the booking system's report, worked out in a spreadsheet and typed into payroll. A substitute, a split credited to the front desk instead of the artist, or a 1099 total that lands on you, and the month is wrong.

  2. Records the state makes you keep

Consent and release forms with an ID photo, kept for two to seven years. Vaccination records. Monthly spore tests, each artist's bloodborne-pathogen certificate, the shop's licence and every stylist's, each on its own renewal date. Today that is a binder, a drawer and photos on a phone.

  3. The booking system owns your clients

A “new client” fee on someone who has been coming to you for years. A charge to export your own list. Data gone the day you cancel. A migration you did not ask for after your vendor was bought. Owners say switching is difficult and scary, so they stay.

  4. Everything twice

A no-show invoice gets paid, so the class goes back on the client's account by hand. A new stylist joins, so the booking tool, payroll, the door code and the group chat each get a visit. Someone leaves, and one of those is forgotten.

Start with these apps

An app is a set of pages, records and workflows for one job, kept in your own repository beside everything else your business runs on. We are building these first, with design partners in this trade.

  • Staff pay

Reads the week's bookings, works out commission, booth rent, tips and pay per class under rules you wrote once, and hands payroll a run for you to approve. A sub or a split that looks wrong is flagged before pay day, not after.
  • Client records

Consent forms, ID photos, vaccination records and certificates, kept as long as your state says, with the renewal dates for the shop and each stylist on one list that reminds you before they lapse.
  • Front desk

Your client list, deposits and no-shows in your own database, synced from the booking tool rather than locked inside it. When a no-show invoice is paid, the class is credited back, once.

What changes

Pay day is a run you approve, not a spreadsheet you build. The booking tool keeps the calendar, and you keep the client list, in a database you can export any day. A stylist joining or leaving is one change that reaches every tool, with a record of who approved it. The binder becomes a page with a date on each line.

What stays yours

  • Your client list, your records and your rules live in your own repository and your own database.
  • Nothing changes without a plan you can read first, and every change is recorded with who approved it.
  • The code is source-available. Read every line, change what you like, and leave with everything.

Two minutes to a running business

Tell the agent what you do and how you get paid. It sets up the apps for your business, and you approve each change before it runs.
